Chris Bertole

Vice President, Product and Applications Development

Chris is a member of the leadership team of CORMETECH Capture, the company’s carbon-capture solutions business. With over 20 years of experience in environmental technology research and development, Chris specializes in leading research teams, technology collaborations, new product and process developments (from lab-scale feasibility to commercial-scale production), new customer and application developments, and performance modeling.

Chris serves as the Principal Investigator for two U.S. Department of Energy-sponsored projects led by CORMETECH, for both point source carbon capture and direct air carbon capture.

A native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Chris earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto. His graduate research, sponsored by ExxonMobil, focused on heterogeneous catalysis and the application of isotope tracing for the in-situ study of surface reaction pathways in cobalt-catalyzed Fischer-Tropsch synthesis. He has authored many scientific articles and is a frequent presenter at industry and scientific conferences.

James Altizer

Vice President, Product and Manufacturing Development

James leads the development of new materials and process for CORMETECH Capture, with a focus on substrate technology and composition. 

He has over 20 years of experience developing new products and transitioning them into manufacturing. Under his leadership, CORMETECH has successfully developed and commercialized products for stationary SCR applications, including CORMETECH Dustbuster®, Meteor™ and Elite™.

James also has led development and implementation of products for marine and mobile applications and has held operational roles including Director of Plant Operations for CORMETECH’s Durham manufacturing facility.

James earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in ceramic engineering from Alfred University and an MBA from Strayer University.  He has been granted three U.S. patents during his tenure with CORMETECH.

Chris Reeves

Carbon Capture Program Director

Chris leads project management for CORMETECH Capture and is central to the company’s ongoing development of point source capture technology.

He frequently leads the scale-up, validation, and implementation of new products and manufacturing processes, and has overseen the development of CO2 adsorber product lines, COMETTM, High Cell Density SCR, METEORTM, Heavy Duty Diesel SCR, and on-road diesel SCR retrofit.

Chris has extensive experience in laboratory and bench-scale reactor design and performance testing. He earned a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
